A team of youth and adults from BUMC (current total, 11) will be travelling to Gatlinburg, Tennessee June 3-9, 2018 and will be partneringwith the mission organization TEAMeffort. Over the years, youth mission teams and mission camp staff have formed strong bonds with the people they minister to in the poor communities scattered throughout the mountains of eastern Tennessee.
Some of these local residents are destitute and forgotten, living in clusters of dilapidated, seemingly unlivable homes alongside old dirt roads. Some of them are widows or young families who just need help to get their homes dry and winterized. There are even others who are trying to run outreach missions, but don't even have enough funds to keep up their own facilities. Throughout these areas are children and adults who need to be shown the love of Christ. Our group will be able to minister in these areas through home repair projects such as building wheelchair ramps, decks, and painting. This is a wonderful learning experience for our youth and an opportunity for them to help others who are suffering and experiencing hard times.
