Children's Ministries
Nurturing our children's relationship with God.
Even during this transitional time caused by the global pandemic, we partner with parents, grandparents, and guardians in a very important task — raising the next generation of believers and servants! From crafts to stories to missions, Brunswick United Methodist has children's programs that nurture kids' souls. We use a wide variety of activities, virtually and in person — mission projects, arts and crafts, discipleship, and just plain fun. Our children learn the fundamentals of the Christian faith while developing a strong spiritual foundation and a sense of belonging in the community of faith. We look forward to reintroducing vocal music once restrictions are lifted.
At Brunswick United Methodist we offer a wide variety of activities for children. For more information about each of our programs, we invite you to read through the descriptions below:
Sunday School
We offer Sunday School classes each Sunday morning from 10:00 - 11:00am for children ages preschool through Senior High. Our enthusiastic Education Team provides fun kids' programming throughout the year, including Christmas and Valentine's Day parties. We also sponsor an annual Easter Egg Hunt and Trunk or Treat event that are popular with the whole community. During summer months students and teachers enjoy a holiday — older children join parents, guardians and grandparents in the worship service, while younger children (through 5th grade) enjoy Children's Church (sometimes held outside in our gazebo!) consisting of a Bible Story and a simple craft or other hands-on activity.
Covid-19 Update:
Virtual Option – packets with instructions can be picked up at the church during office hours. Lessons are found on YouTube and Amplify Media – a division of Cokesbury.
In-Person Option – offered on the first three Sundays of the month following the Children’s Message. There are activity bags in the gathering area for the children for the fourth Sunday. Fifth Sundays of a month will be a movie and popcorn. Adult educators lead these sessions.
Youth Sunday School (Middle School and Senior High) - An in-person led class will be offered on the first three Sundays of the month at 10:00am. On the fourth and fifth Sundays of the month, youth will attend the worship service.
Kidz Connect - Wednesday Night Children's Program
A mid-week evening program for grades pre-K through 6. Led by our Christian Education Director, Kidz Connect is the highlight of the week for many local families. Music plays an important role in the learning process and in the fun. The "Wednesday-Nighters" present several highly-anticipated Bible-based musical dramas each year. We are always looking for new friends. Join us!
Covid-19 Update: We are meeting together Wednesdays at 6:00pm via Zoom. An email invitation is sent to each participant and we gather together for a lesson, a short video and interactive discussion for one hour.
Vacation Bible School
Looking for Vacation Bible school in Brunswick, Ohio? Bring your children to Brunswick United Methodist, and they will never want to leave! Bible stories, skits, singing, snacks and crafts, and loads of laughs ensure a memorable week for all who attend. Our program this past summer was transformed into an engaging virtual event, keeping the message (and the fun) alive and everyone safe. Contact the church office for more information about VBS.
Youth Programs and Youth Mission Trip
Brunswick United Methodist Youth are extremely active as they learn about the love of Christ. Of course they get together for fun activities, such as trips to Cedar Point, thematic weekend retreats, and Christian music concerts and theater presentations. They also lead worship services and go on an annual mission trip where they provide service acts for another community in need. Youth Ministries also has it's very own page. Covid-19 Update: Bi-weekly meetings and occasional socially-distanced gatherings are held to nurture our relationship with each other and with God. Due to the ever-changing schedules of our busy youth, please check with the church office, or the Youth Facebook page for an up-to-date schedule. Open to students in grades 6-12.
